The competition this year is one of the most intricate competitions in a while. The challenge is has a medieval theme, with each side having their own castle. The goal is to destroy your opponent’s castle by throwing boulders into the goals on the castle. Each side has 4 defenses that change per round; anything from moats to drawbridges. You score points by scoring a boulder into a goal, crossing defenses, and contouring your opponents castle.

Our season started the minute the video was announced. Our kickoff day was 9:00am-5:00pm, and we gained a great understanding of this year’s competition.
After the video was over, we began the real tasks. We read through the manual, threw around some ideas, and tried to figure out what we could do in the short 6 weeks.
After kickoff, the race to complete a robot began! As we continued to design our final bot, we also worked on building the field elements.
With an almost-finished robot, we headed out to Eagan’s 0 week competition. We practiced in 3 rounds before we decided to leave, but were able to get some experience in an actual field, instead of just random driving practice down hallways. The marketing team got practice on scouting and we all got a good look into how other teams interpreted the concept of the game. After a few hours most of the team left, leaving the marketing team to their scouting adventures until the end of the tournament.
